2018 All Star Update

 All Star Update

Softball:

12 Year Olds :   Hank Jaxel – July 13th-15th

11 Year Olds :

The 11U girls lost in the Championship for the third straight year to a very talented Pearl River team. The girls gave up a touchdown in the first inning but as always didn’t give up and didn’t give in.  They rallied to push what could have been a blowout into a competitive, fun game – great girls, with great attitudes.

Samantha Dow pitched her third complete game of the tournament striking out 7.

Sam reached base three times, scoring three runs.
Maeghan Nordone, Jelly Cirillo, Anna Miller each had a hit and an RBI
Alexandra McDowell, Alexia Nicolich each scored a run
Taylor Miller had a RBI
Addie Moss was 2-2 with a double
Ava Miller had a double and scored a run

The defense was once again led by strong outfield play:
Ava Miller and Alexandra McDowell each made a couple of catches on well hit fly balls and each throw out a runner on the bases.

As has been the case for three years with these girls - what they do on the field is great but it is nothing compared to who they are on and off the field.  A great group of kids, who care for and support one another; they put the team’s goals ahead of their own.
This group of young ladies truly embodies what sports should be about.

Thank you all again for the big turnouts - the way our fans have conducted themselves and huge show of support is a positive reflection on our leagues and communities.

Next up:
The 9th Annual Hank Jaxel Tournament – Strawtown Fields, New City
Saturday, July 14, 2018 – Doubleheader

11 Year Olds :

The 11U boys baseball team started off the West Nyack tournament with a 5 to 1 loss against West Nyack.

Ryan Trombley pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.  Nick Cabral got the last out against West Nyack.

Charlie Moustakakis had a hit and an RBI.  Nick Panzarella, Ryan Cangelosi, Mickey Gallagher, and Ryan Trombley all had 1 hit.  Thomas Adrignola scored the only run for Nanuet.

In the field, the boys turned a nice double play on a bunt attempt.  Nick Cabral fielded the ball at 3rd base and threw the runner out at 1st, then as the runner tried to go 3rd, Cabral raced back and tagged out the runner on a nice throw by Paul Peterson.  Mickey Gallagher caught 2 fly balls and Nick Panzarella was steady at 2nd base catching a line drive.

Nanuet plays Pearl River tonight at 7pm at West Nyack Little League.

9 Year Olds :  TBD
